Job Summary
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who is responsible for assisting anesthesia providers during direct patient care activities and all assigned duties to ensure supplies and certain designated equipment are available and functional. This position will support licensed staff who are providing care to patients in the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Will function under the direct supervision of Registered Professional Nurse or Anesthesia Provider.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Currently licensed as an LPN in the state of Georgia.
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience in an acute care setting.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Coordinates equipment and supply needs of Anesthesia Department and keeps inventory at satisfactory levels.
Orders weekly supplies to maintain routine supplies at acceptable levels as evidenced by lack of complaints.
Processes or prepares for processing all reusable anesthesia equipment used for surgical cases according to established procedure.
Keeps supply area clean, supplies organized and accessible and keeps staff informed concerning changes as evidenced by lack of complaints.
Assists pharmacy with outdate monitoring as evidenced by absence of outdated drugs.
Coordinates maintenance requirements and maintains records of compliance.
Observant for malfunctioning of all equipment and notified Bio-Med quickly following through to minimize down time of equipment.
Responsible for availability and preparation of supplies and anesthesia cases.
Sets up supplies in OR for each case and gives assistance where required.
Removes used supplies at end of case and replaces with clean ones for following case.
Monitors use and submits records to pharmacy of narcotics used and secures replacement of drugs according to procedure.
Responsible for compliance with Infection Control procedures dealing with anesthesia equipment.
Ensures clean supplies by providing isolation and proper disposal of used equipment on anesthesia carts according to procedure.
Performs routine cleaning of carts.
Performs weekly cleaning of machine with inspection of and replacement of soda lime canisters as required by procedure.
Responsible for special anesthesia related duties as assigned by Unit Manager.
Checks malignant hyperthermia cart according to procedure and records results.
Prepare approved medications under the direction of licensed anesthesia provider.
