Summary: Performs the billing functions for in/out patient insurance and self-pay billings.
Other information: At least one year experience in Business Office practices with emphasis in billing duties. Must be familiar with medical terminology.
Responsibilities: Using Athena's Aged Account Receivable reports, contacts insurance companies to dertermine claim status.Appropriately uses follow-up dates within physician billing system to perform follow-up functions on claims where payment has not been received or there has been no response to former claim status inquiries.Provides Billing Company (Athena) and insurance companies with additional information that is required in order to process claims.Reports issues delaying claim processing by third party payers to Manager.Reports any billing changes by third party payers to Manager.Prepares accounts for approval of Manager when write-off is warranted or forwards to appropriate biller for appeal determination.Develops and maintains a good work rapport with inter-departmental personnel as well as other departments.Documents all work in collector module in physician billing system.Other duties.
