Overview
Responsible for ensuring that quality care is coordinated and delivered to patients, through careful management of staff and other resources. Demonstrates clinical expertise and provides leadership of clinical, financial, and personnel management of the assigned area(s). Utilizes clinical management knowledge and experience to ensure the provision of high quality, safe, and cost effective patient care. May provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients. Generally reports to a director.

Responsibilities
Responsible for day-to-day staff management and administration for a unit or other assigned area(s). Daily staff management and administration includes managing staff timecards and schedules, appropriate new hire readiness/processing/partnering, staff FTE status changes, staffing levels, staff development and education, corrective action management, staff portfolio audits, staff education completion, staff timely staff termination processing, etc.Plans and implements the overall nursing schedules, policies, procedures, and services for that area. Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of unit / department processes.Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and retaining clinical staff. Ensures that nurses are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. Demonstrates leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development opportunities to create a culture of learning.May provide direct patient care. Drives and is accountable for adherence and improvement to quality of patient care delivered, and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physician leadership, and other departments.Abides to departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems, equipment, and supplies purchases; monitors usage and oversees proper working order and stock supplies.Leads change by developing, implementing and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives of the department in conjunction with the director. Seeks and utilizes input from staff and oversees change implementation. Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies.Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing levels and skill mix on a shift by shift basis. Schedules appropriately based on census. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
Qualifications
BSN or equivalent experience.
Requires a current RN license in state of practice. BLS Required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Must possess at least 3 years of OR experience and 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a lead, supervisory, or equivalent capacity. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills of specialty area. Requires strong people management skills and abilities.
Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes. Requires the ability to balance clinical skills with supervisory authority. Must have the ability to consider the ultimate impact of decisions on the unit/department. Must have the ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements. Requires New Leader Experience certification within one year.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Overall 5+ years of clinical experience in relevant area of practice with 3 years of supervisory experience.
