ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a part-time NP or PA to join our Vascular/Interventional Radiology Team for 20 hours/week. The selected candidate will function in a collaborative environment with physicians in the direct care of patients within the Department of Interventional Radiology. This position is primarily at our Christiana Campus with rotation at our Wilmington Campus. This a M-F position with rotating Saturday coverage every 6-8 weeks.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Elicit admission and/or initial consultation for outpatients, inpatients and referrals.
Performs and records focused history and physical examination in response to consult and collaborates with physicians and other members of the medical staff.
Initiate routine admission and procedural orders and modify treatments and medications within established guidelines and scope of practice.
Screens patient to determine need for urgent medical attention.
Retrieve relevant patient information and communicate to physician.
Initiate and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory studies.
Evaluate and consult with radiologists related to diagnostic and laboratory testing.
Prescribes medications and modifies pharmacologic therapy with credentials provided by the Joint Practice Committee of the Delaware Board of Medical Practice.
Perform procedures under the direction of the Interventional Radiologist that are within the scope of license and departmental/hospital credentialing, including but not limited to :
Suturing of catheters, T-fastener removal in feeding tubes, Percutaneous abdominal drain and chest tube removal, PICC/tunneled CVC line removal, Declogging of feeding catheters.
Provide pre and post procedural education and obtain consent.
Facilitate physician and patient scheduling within the Department of Interventional Radiology.
Provide follow-up care for inpatients.
Initiate referrals in collaboration with physicians, identifying appropriate resources and services.
Initiate discharge planning.
Make decisions and act independently within established guidelines with minimal supervision.
Provide effective oral and written communications while protecting confidentiality of both patients and staff.
Utilize teaching/learning principles coupled with an expert clinical knowledge to promote and provide education to the staff, patient, and patient's family.
Have knowledge of and adherence to all CCHS safety policies.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to
supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause
injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of an Advanced Practice Nurse master's degree (MSN) or Physician AssistantProgram
Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification Required
License or license eligible in the State of Delaware
Prescriptive authority required.
Certified in BCLS and ACLS.
