Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking an experienced GI Lab nurse. The incumbent will be responsible to the nurse manager and will provide direct patient care. The GI Lab provides care to veterans in an outpatient and inpatient clinical setting. Treatments are initiated and managed by the professional RN staff. The Registered Nurse (GI) is responsible for providing pre, intra, and post procedure education to the patients, families, significant others, and/or caregivers. The Registered Nurse (GI) is responsible for administering and evaluating pharmacological and other therapeutic treatment regimens mandated by the situation, evidence-based practice, and recent advancements in gastroenterology. The Registered Nurse (GI) is responsible for assisting the physician and/or advanced provider during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes. The Registered Nurse (GI) is responsible for preparing patients in the pre-procedure area including IV insertions and electronic medical record (EMR) documentation as well as recovering patients in the post-procedure area which includes EMR documentation. The Registered Nurse (GI) performs other related duties as required by the Nurse Manager. The Registered Nurse (GI) will monitor the patient, labs, medications and activity level. The incumbent will support the entire team in delivering quality care in a considerate, professional and respectful manner. The Registered Nurse (GI) activities must reflect the highest standards that are consistent with the mission, values, priorities, goals and resources of BPVAHCS. The Registered Nurse (GI) will perform other duties under the direction of the nurse manager or designee as assigned.
