The RN Nurse Manager functions within a nursing process framework for problem-solving and care facilitation: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Job duties are focused on leading nursing staff in maintaining optimum mental and physical health along with disease prevention. The incumbent is expected to perform data collection and analysis for the purpose of improving care to patient groups, maximizing utilization of resources, and enhancing the Primary Care program. Duties include but are not limited to: The RN Nurse Manager supervises the scheduling of outpatient clinic appointments using the Graphic User Interface (GUI) and the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) scheduling options. Ensures that all outpatient clinic appointments and consultations are scheduled according to the business rules outlined in VHA directives and policies. This includes scheduling of clinic visits, consultations, and entries into the Electronic Wait List. The incumbent complies with the mandatory training requirements for the outpatient scheduling process, and ensures these requirements are met for all clinic scheduling. Conducts monthly scheduling audits to ensure compliance. Provides clinical guidance on Eligibility, Means Testing, Patient Enrollment, Beneficiary Travel, Release of Information, Extended Care Programs, Special Programs, Medical Care Cost Recovery, and scheduling functions. Providing administrative authority, guidance, and advice to all staff concerning administrative matters necessary for operation. Instructs and guides the staff members regarding administrative matters relative to patient care. The RN Nurse Manager Provides ADPAC support for all staff, ensuring that all technical problems are resolved in a timely manner, and reporting to the service affected if the problem cannot be corrected in the appropriate time frame. The incumbent is responsible for reception activity and ensures that registration is accomplished using appropriate policies. Reviews the enrollment process making sure that applications for care and means tests are processed timely and accurately, and that all eligible applicants receive a Veteran Health Identification Card. Monitors pre-registration functions to help the facility maintain accurate data for both patient correspondence and North Central Consolidated Patient Account Center (NCCPAC). Conducts monthly data entry audits per VHA guidelines. The RN Nurse Manager communicates information to the staff through daily huddles, regular meetings or individual encounters. Is responsible for accurate posting of time for all staff, approves requests for leave, receives call ins, and ensures proper staffing levels to maintain daily workload. May occasionally be called upon to assist with coverage during emergent staffing situations.
