Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director of Nursing for Professional Development & Clinical Practice Outcomes
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, they will provide the leadership and development of education for Nursing across the NYU Langone Health System, which includes the full continuum from the on-boarding of nurses through career development. They will also have the responsibility to collaborate with the NYU Rory Myers College of Nursing to continually evolve nursing education across the continuum and impact new nursing onboarding needs. All other education that impacts the performance of nursing will be included in this role. The Senior Director of Nursing for Professional Development & Clinical Practice Outcomes will provide leadership and coordination of Nursing across the system; ensure consistent patient outcomes measurement and reporting to evaluate nursing practice in all campuses, working with site specific teams on improvement efforts as needed; ensure coordinated efforts for all tools and enabling resources that support practice and ensure collaboration across all sites in the pursuit of Magnet designation and re-designation efforts.
Job Responsibilities: - Work with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to evaluate and redesign new nurse onboarding structure process outcomes.
- Implement the Nurse Residency and Student Nurse Extern Program across the system.
- Serve as the liaison to Schools of Nursing providing RN to BSN education to ensure coordination of professional skill development and transition into clinical practice.
- Evaluate and coordinate the annual competency review process ensuring standardization of nursing competency.
- Ensures coordination across all campuses in response to regulatory action plans related to nursing practice
- Responsible for reports to the Medical Board, Quality Improvement Committee and Safety Action Group as indicated
- Communicates nursing practice changes across all campuses
- Maintain the Continuing Education and Approver Program, providing CEU's to appropriate nursing education opportunities.
- Coordinate relationship building with area Schools of Nursing for all clinical placement and preceptor training, working with each site specific coordinator.
- Collaborate with operational leadership to ensure appropriate Models of Care based on patient population needs.
- Facilitate collaboration and consistency, as applicable based on existing collective bargaining agreements, in:
--Nursing Quality --Nursing Professional Advancement Program/Clinical Ladders --Shared Governance --Policies and procedures supporting practice. - Collaborate with key stakeholders to integrate IT into the practice setting that drives outcomes and coordinates care.
- Participate in standardization of clinical equipment selection to facilitate consistent nursing practice and workflow.
- Oversee the consistent approach to nursing sensitive patient care outcomes data collection and reporting
- Work with site specific Magnet Program Directors to ensure appropriate support for this ongoing effort
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have: Education: Masters degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration. If graduate degree not in nursing, must have a BSN degree. Demonstrated mastery of nursing education and strong program development. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Experience: Minimum 5-7 years experience in nursing. Administrative leadership and nursing education expertise is strongly preferred. Leadership experience in a multi-site integrated system strongly preferred.
Licensure: Registered Nurse in the State of New York Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
