The Student Support Services (SSS) Manager will provide academic support and career services planning to the VUMC Center for Programs in Allied Health. This role will manage student support services by guiding student-focused academic outcomes and career plans for success. The SSS manager will work closely with Students, Program Directors, and other CPiAH staff, as needed, to identify the necessary resources/tools in the development of student academic achievement and career planning goals.
Provide academic support to CPiAH students
Collaborate with CPiAH faculty and staff, as needed, to deliver effective academic support
Contact students to build and maintain rapport
Contact students to collect proper forms and paperwork, as needed
Serves as the student's advisor to assist with questions and concerns
Assists students with questions related to, but not limited to, course navigation, academic policies, course expectations, technical assistance, and other student support services
Provides guidance to at-risk students for student success
Provides on-going student retention efforts
Conduct student academic performance reviews for student success
Provides individual advising to students on academic matters such as, academic plans
Ensure students understand certificate program requirements
Ensure students understand academic policies and procedures
Facilitate student assessments, for readiness
Provides additional academic support duties, as assigned or requested
Career Services Support
Assist students with career exploration
Coordinate student workshops, such as resume writing and interviewing skills
Coordinate student simulation sessions for interview skill development and other soft skills for the workplace
Responds to inquiries from students, alumni, and employers by phone, e-mail and in-person
Assist Program Directors with students and alumni with employability skills for job placement
Provides coaching and development of valuable job placement techniques, strategies, and tools needed to become job search ready
Assists students with developing employability skills used to launch a confident job search
Research current and potential job openings to assist Allied Health
Assists students in matching their skills with available internships and jobs
Provides input and feedback to CPiAH as to current job trends and needed skills in the workplace
Provides outreach to alumni and advises them on job search techniques,
Assist Program Directors with career placements for students
Promote recruitment for job prospects both internal and external
Support development of career management strategies
Administer and interpret career assessments and develop action plans to assist students
Prepare content related to career development and job search for CPiAH platforms
Provide consultation and assistance to affiliates for career development activities involving CPiAH students
Maintain detailed and accurate records for career planning and success
Provide career planning and success data to CPiAH as requested
Researches, evaluates, maintains resources for career fields that support the unique needs of CPiAH students
Provides additional career planning and success duties, as assigned or requested
Participates in CPiAH process improvement initiatives
Assists and Collaborate with Program Directors in the collection and distribution of CPiAH continuous improvement data and documentation for student support services
Analyze student support services data collected for CPiAH effectiveness
Collaborate with Program Directors to develop Academic Plans and Satisfactory Academic Processes for students
Coordinates ongoing program assessments, reports, and surveys
Effectively communicate with student enrollment and financial services office
Participates in a process of continual personal and professional improvement
Demonstrates knowledge and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations, such as the Department of Education, Accrediting agencies, (i.e. FERPA, ADA, etc) and internal VUMC policies and procedures
Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff, as appropriate, and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Director of CPiAH
Effective use of the CPiAH Campus Management System
Coordinates CPiAH Learning Management System (LMS) trainings
Aid students on LMS usage
Attend CPiAH and other Professional Meetings, Trainings/Workshops, Conferences, as applicable
Provides additional CPiAH administrative duties and support, as assigned or requested

The reporting relationship is unimportant since the purpose is to pass on information and experiences. These discussions normally center around a person's goal of learning job procedures, content, standards, analysis and problem-solving.

This position requires experience in academic and career planning support of students within a higher education/ postsecondary education environment.
A preferred candidate will have at least five (5) years of academic and career counseling experience with healthcare programs, along with knowledge of higher education/ federal laws, including, but not limited to, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA.)

Education and Experience Requirements
The Student Support Services Manager must:
* possess a baccalaureate degree in a closely related field, required
* A preferred candidate will have a master's degree in a closely related field/ education does not substitute for experience
* No Certification/Licensure Requirement
* At least three (3) years of experience in academic and career counseling in higher education/ postsecondary education environment, required
* Preferred experience with health care programs
* Preferred knowledge and national memberships in Student Support
* This is a full-time position (at least 40 hours/week)
Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, but flexibility to work additional hours, as needed, is a MUST!
