Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Department of Psychiatry, is accepting applications for an Associate Program Manager – Supported Employment and Education Specialist (SEES). In the vital community role, you are a member of a coordinated specialty care treatment team for first episode psychosis patients (ages 16-25). Additionally, you will work with employers and advocate for the clients comfortably; comfort level among those they may have addiction, schizophrenia or other related situations is the most important aspect of this position.
The SEES provides employment and education services to assist patients with working and attending school successfully. The SEES provides services in both the clinic and the community setting, however the community setting is the primary work environment for this position. The SEES establishes relationships with employers and educational providers in the community to assist patients with employment and educational goals.
The SEES provides needed employment and education skills training, including services for patients to develop necessary skills to obtain and maintain employment and/or education and other appropriate services and supports that will support the individual in their recovery. All services should be recovery focused and in line with the recovery philosophy while increasing positive opportunities in social, academic, and vocational development.
This is a full time day shift position with benefits on your first day of employment. Working conditions include the following:

1. Identifies funding sources for employment
2. Meets with patients regarding employment
Provides initial paperwork, develops goals, assists with a resume, explores payment options, if appropriate
Works with other staff members, as appropriate, in completing initial paperwork for employment and providing resume assistance.
Refers members to Vocational Rehabilitation or other funding source as appropriate.
Provides employment groups as needed.
Provides support groups for working members as needed.
3. Maintains Employment Database and Statistics
Develops and maintains an Employment Database.
Ensures appropriate paperwork is being completed on members in database by reviewing database submissions and peer monitoring charts.
Completes monthly statistics on employed members.
Familiar with United Way requirements and provides these statistics to the Director of Recovery Services). Meets with the Director of Recovery Services and United Way staff during monitoring site visits.
4. Works closely with other members of the employment team
Follows the IPS (Individual Placement and Support) method of delivering services.
Attends regular employment meetings.
Helps coordinate with other programs (Housing, Transitional Youth).
Maintains contact with employers via telephone regularly as appropriate to maintain effective employer relations.
5. Values cultural competence and diversity
Collaborates with staff, patients, and the community to gain the perspectives of others having diverse opinions, abilities, values, beliefs, perspectives, and ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
Takes deliberate steps to increase own cultural competency by attending training, events, discussions, workshops, etc.
6. Other Duties
Attends all necessary staff meetings and trainings.
Participates in patient activities whenever possible.
Other duties as assigned.
