The Arizona Health Care Association (AHCA), located in Phoenix, Arizona, is looking for an experienced Director of Quality and Regulatory Services to join our team. AHCA is a professional association representing long term care and assisted living in Arizona.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Quality and Regulatory Services will serve as the Arizona Health Care Association's (AHCA) staff representative on the AHCA Quality & Regulatory Committee, Emergency Preparedness, and work with the Public Policy Committee. The position will:
•Work with providers and be the liaison between regulatory agencies and the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).
•Draft and compose regulatory member update/newsletters.
•Provide technical assistance and respond to member quality and regulatory questions.
Responsibilities and Duties
•Responds to member inquiries regarding laws, regulations, policies and the long term care and assisted living regulatory processes.
•Composes Regulatory Bulletins/Updates for AHCA members. Drafts materials for AHCA publications and the AHCA website as needed.
•Facilitates and disseminates communications (including written material) on issues of importance to nursing facility and assisted living members.
•Assists members in both the skilled nursing and assisted living arenas with education and key regulatory and compliance matters.
•Reviews regulatory and legislative initiatives affecting the Arizona Health Care Association’s (AHCA) skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities.
•Provide on-going in-service training and develop conference workshops on key quality and regulatory issues.
•Represents AHCA skilled nursing centers and assisted living communities with regulatory agencies and the general public at a local, state and national level. Serves as AHCA representative on State committees and task forces and coordinates on Public Policy and Emergency Preparedness.
•Works with the CMS Region to coordinate effective regulatory strategy.
•Works with the national AHCA on quality improvement issues and acts as a liaison with the state of Arizona and the QIO. Develops resources for AHCA to support national programs such as the AHCA Quality Awards, Advancing Excellence and other programs as they develop.
•Supports workforce development initiatives and nurse leadership training and other related education.
•Educates AHCA staff and board on related matters of compliance and quality and work collaboratively with other AHCA consultants and partners.
•Works with managed care plans on quality assurance programs.
•Tracks member compliance and quality measures improvement.
•Creates a portfolio of member resources on compliance and quality, including print and online materials.
•Attends all AHCA Quality and Regulatory Committee meetings. Develops agenda items and issues for discussion.
•Routinely visits members to maintain Association visibility.
•Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
•Knowledge and skills to perform the duties described in the features of work of this job description. College degree or equivalent work experience. RN degree preferred.
•Operational experience in a long term care setting.
•Survey and regulatory background, clinical and quality management experience ideal.
•Excellent oral and written communications abilities.
•Excellent organizational skills.
•Knowledge and experience in Windows and Microsoft Office.
•Ability to work independently and efficiently.
•Ability to maintain continuous satisfactory relationships with employees and the public and to deal with member relations issues courteously and tactfully.
•Thorough knowledge of business English, electronic and telephone etiquette.
•Ability and willingness to travel.
•Valid Arizona driver’s license; must meet state-mandated insurance requirements.
