Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers offer a post-Master's nurse practitioner (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner) fellowship & training program for those interested in the care of children and adolescents with cancer, hematologic disorders, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), and palliative care. Didactic lectures and clinical experiences within oncology, hematology, HSCT, and palliative care allow graduates / nurse practitioners to obtain a comprehensive overview and/or obtain focused training in an area of special interest.
The three-month clinical [July - September] fellowship provides a comprehensive educational pediatric-focused nurse practitioner program coupled with clinical opportunities under the tutelage and mentorship by experienced nurse practitioner colleagues in the various areas of pediatric hematology oncology specialties.
There are two openings each year. A student stipend of $3500.00/month x 3 months is provided. Applications will be accepted from January through April 1st. Applicants must have at least one year experience in pediatric oncology nursing, have completed a Master’s degree in nursing and be eligible for national Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification or Family Nurse Practitioner Certification.
Chemo/biotherapy certification is preferred. PALS certification is required. Texas RN licensure from the Texas Board of Nursing and evidence of graduation from a Master’s Program in Nursing is required prior to starting the program.
Additional Salary Information: Student stipend. Will need to purchase or maintain own health insurance coverage.
