From promoting infection control practices to acting as a liaison with the Department of Health Services, you know you can help deliver better patient care. As an Ambulatory Infection Preventionist at UCLA Health, you’ll use your skills as an epidemiologist, working as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team focused on fighting and preventing the spread of infectious diseases. You can make an immediate impact as an expert consultant, participating in research on infection control issues related at the local and departmental levels and ensuring compliance with agency requirements. You’ll also use your leadership acumen to educate other staff, as well as guide clinics through their certification processes-all with the ultimate goal of reducing disease.
SELECTED DUTIES: Evaluating and assisting with the determination of proper care and planning related to infection prevention and control Participating in the identification, prevention, and control of infections by data collection, surveillance, and analysis Developing of verbal and written reports, as well as educational programs for personnel and patients Assisting ambulatory clinics in preparations for accreditation and licensure surveys, as well as other regulatory standard reviews
A Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred A minimum of 3 years of clinical/healthcare experience, with 2 years of infection control experience Certification in Infection Control (CIC) Knowledge of microbiology, patient care practices, epidemiology, and occupational health Expertise in regulatory, licensing, and professional clinical guidelines Strong leadership experience and excellent communication skills
