The Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies at Fairfield University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in nursing to start in Fall 2018. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching including expertise in the use of technology in the classroom. The potential for expanding a currently active research program in the candidate’s area of specialization is also required. Preference for this position will be given to candidates with research, teaching and current practice in the areas of midwifery and/or women’s health. Additionally, a history of successful grant writing is highly recommended.
Applicants are expected to hold a doctoral degree with an advanced degree (Masters or Doctoral degree) in nursing. Applicants should be prepared to teach day and evening courses at the undergraduate or graduate level in maternal and newborn nursing, women’s health, and midwifery courses. Additionally, applicants should be prepared to actively contribute to the new nurse-midwifery DNP program, in preparing for accreditation, course evaluation, and maintaining clinical partners. Applicants must be innovative in midwifery curricular development and be prepared to incorporate simulation pedagogy into theory courses. The teaching load is 9 credits (3 courses and/or equivalent clinical rotations) each semester.
