The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (VAHCS)is recruiting for a full-time BC/BE Anesthesiologist. The OklahomaVAHCS is affiliated with the University of OklahomaHealth Sciences Center.The Oklahoma VAHCSalso serves as a training site for the Newman College student nurse anesthetist program.The Anesthesiologist is accountable to the Chief of Anesthesiology Service at the VAHCS and is responsible for duties that include, but are not limited to:
Work closely with CRNA, nursing, and surgical staff to achieve quality outcomes, optimal recourse utilization, and maximum operating room efficiency using lean management techniques.
Provides anesthetics for all surgical cases including major vascular, heart, and neurosurgical cases.
Supervise and trainresidents.
Performs anesthetic care and consultation for high risk Cardiothoracic surgery.
Work Schedule: 7am-3:30pm. Full time Physicians are expected to complete a 40hr work week and be on call 24/7. Call schedule and shifts subject to change.

Basic Requirements: (All will be verified, please provided documentation)
Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training. Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Fellowship in cardiac anesthesia or extensive cardiac experience.
Proficiency in TEE.
Previous academicexperience, holding a faculty appointment.

Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
